Premiere's moving truck failed to show up for my move from New Westminster, BC to Edmonton, AB at the arranged time despite having confirmed with them twice before the move. When I called dispatch the truck was already late and I was informed that the truck had been out of contact for the last day. I reminded the dispatcher that I was only able to book the elevator in my building for the morning and I had to be out of my condo by noon, at which point I was told he would try to make other arrangements. After a half hour, not having received a call back from Premiere I phoned the dispatcher, who said arrangements were being made with a moving company nearby and the truck would be leaving shortly. Having the elevator for only another 90 minutes I began moving my belongings to the lobby.
The replacement truck hadn’t shown up after another 45 minutes, so I placed another call to Premiere. I was informed the replacement truck wasn’t going to be coming. I had not received a call informing me of this. I asked Premiere to arrange for a truck to move my belongings from the lobby of the condo to a nearby storage unit. The dispatcher assured me he would try to find something and get back to me. With very few options, I finished moving my belongings to the lobby.
At this point I was forced to phone Premiere again, since the dispatcher did not follow up with me. He said that he was unable to arrange alternate transportation, but assured me if I could wait until the morning they would be able to move me. Sitting on a pile of boxes in the lobby, I phoned other moving companies, trying to find someone to pick up my belongings out of the lobby.
I was very fortunate to find another company, who was able to arrive and start moving within an hour of my call (for a cheaper rate than Premiere). However if I, without any contacts in the moving business and just a smartphone at my disposal, could book a truck in that timeframe, surely Premiere should have been able to arrange a replacement. It speaks to a lack of interest on the part of Premiere’s staff.
I completed my move with a more competent, more customer-friendly company. Do not book with Premiere and go through the same ordeal that I did. |
